As a resident of Texas, I am contractually required to post about the weather whenever we have a winter storm.

They started talking about the winter storm this weekend about 10 days ago, which was nice to at least have advance warning. I was able to do all my grocery shopping before the grocery stores became Mad Max wastelands.
The city did its level best to prepare – it treated the roads (which all got washed off before the rain turned to sleet) and I saw them trimming tree branches in my neighborhood Thursday morning.
After a 30 degree temperature drop overnight from Friday to Saturday, the sleet started in the evening. Eventually it turned into thunder sleet, which is just wild. We were lucky – sleet means less ice accumulation than freezing rain, so while it’s still incredibly cold, I didn’t lose power.
This is how the kitties and I have spent the weekend:

The roads are terrible so I can’t go see the boyos, but C. was nice enough to send me a few pictures of how they are holding on:

Overall it’s really not been bad and I’m thankful to be through the danger zone without losing power, heat, and water.
